From our deluxe
accommodations we'll embark on a leisurely trek of the Everest valleys in the
pristine Himalayas of Nepal. Afterwards we'll return to India for a grand tour
of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur.
DAY 1-2
USA/DELHI:
We depart the USA to Delhi, via Air India. Hotel
Claridges/Park Hotel.
Day 3/4 DELHI/KATHMANDU:
Afternoon fly to Kathmandu. We'll be received and
escorted to Hotel Shangrila. We have two days to explore this ancient and
fascinating city before setting off on our Himalayan trek.
Day 5 PHAKDING:
We will fly Royal Nepal Airlines to the hamlet of Lukla,
our trek starting point. We descend to Charukharka and traverse into the Dudh
Kosi Valley. Camp overnight at Phakdang at 8,700 ft.
Day 6 NAMCHE:
Today we walk upstream to the Benker-bridge, cross the
Dudh Kosi Valley and continue on to Jorsale Valley.
Day 7 KHUMJUNG:
Today we ascend from Namche to visit its renowned gompa
(monastery) and we'll visit one of the largest Sherpa-houses, the highlight of
the day. (The Sherpa are justly proud of their abodes on top of the world.) At
Khunde, west of Khumjung well see the hospital built by Sir Edmond Hillary.
Day 8/9 THYANGBOCHE:
We traverse the slope eastward to the large chorten on
the Khumjung Sangasa, descend to the bridge of Dudh Kosi-lmja Kholda at
Phyundi, then ascend northwards to the monastery of Thyangboche at 12,700 ft.
We'll take a picnic excursion to Thyamboche monastery and the monastery of
Buddhist nuns at Debuje/ Phyangboche. At Phyangboche one can see the scalp and
hand said to belong to Yeti.
Day 10 CHUMAWO:
We retrace our trail
up to Sangnasa, ascend southward along the Sangboche ridge, then descend from
Namche and camp at Chumawo.
Day 11 LUKLA:
Today we trek along the Dudh Kosi river through Jorsale
and Benker. Tonight we'll have a farewell party with our Nepalese staff,
celebrating the adventure.
Day 12 KATHMANDU:
After
breakfast, leave for the airstrip of Lukla and our return flight to Kathmandu,
transfer to the hotel and explore the shops and sights of the city.
Day 13 KATHMANDU/DELHI:
We depart Kathmandu for a flight to Delhi and transfer to
Hotel CIaridges/Park. Afternoon, a sightseeing expedition in New Delhi. This
evening we'll attend a sound and light show.
Day 14 AGRA:
This morning we will travel by car/coach to Agra to visit
the renowned Taj Mahal and the Red Fort,
where Shah Jahan spent the
last days of his life in captivity. Hotel Clark's Shiraz/Taj View.
Day 15 JAIPUR:
Today our destination is the pink city of Jaipur. Upon
arrival we will transfer to Hotel Jai Mahal/Clark's Amer. Afternoon tour of the
City Palace, Albert Museum and the 16th C. Jantar Mantar observatory.
Day 16 JAIPUR/DELHI:
This morning we'll take a ceremonial elephant ride to the Amber Fort, followed by an afternoon spent exploring the
colorful bazaars where you may want to shop for jewelry or clothing. This
evening we return to Delhi.
DAY 17 DELHI/USA:
Morning departure from Delhi, same day arrival.

Day 1
DELHI/SRINAGAR:
Mogul Gardens:
Airport meet and transfer to houseboat.
After a traditional welcome tea and biscuits, this afternoon you will
visit enchanted Mogul gardens of Nishat 'garden of bliss'
situated on the banks of the Dal
Lake, with the Zabarwan Mountains as its backdrop, commands a magnificent view
of the lake and the snow capped Pir Panjal mountain range which
stands far away to the west of the valley was built by Mogul
Emperor Jahangir, who was the father of the builder of Taj Mahal and Shalimar
the garden of pleasure built by Emperor Jehangir for his wife Nur
Jehan, is a beautiful garden with sweeping vistas, lakes, and shallow terraces.
The garden has four terraces, rising one above the other. A canal lined with
polished marble and supplied with water from Harwan runs
through the middle of the garden. The fourth terrace, by far the
best, was once reserved for royal ladies. Dinner at your houseboat.
Day 2
PAHALGAM:
After breakfast, we'll
depart for a full day tour of Pahalagam, an other premier mountain resort in
Kashmir, with its pointed peaks and green pastures. En-route stops will include
a visit to 11th. Century Temple and Palace of ancient capital of Kashmir at
AWANTI PURA, MATAN a temple town with ponds of holly fish which are fed
byvisitors and worshipers. These holy fish are not for consumption. As you
approach Pahalgam, you are greeted by lush valleys and rolling meadows
cascading streams offering panoramic views. Pahalgam is a base for
variousHimalayan trekking routes for beginners and for experienced trekkers
to
many Trans-Himalayan expeditions. Within a close proximity by
horseback ride or walking are the meadow of Baisaran, surrounded by thickly
wooded forests of pine. Hajan, on the way to Chandanwari, is an idyllic
spot for a picnic. This evening Return to your cozy houseboat.
Day 3 Srinagar
lakes and City Tour:
Today you will board small boats which
resemble Italian Gondolas
with canopies and spring seats to cruise
through Dal and Nagin Lakes. Float through a network of canals to the holy
shrine of Hazratbal and visit floating gardens and small villages along the
route.
Day 4
SRINAGAR/DELHI:
Breakfast at
your houseboat. Fly to Delhi/, arrival transfer tohotel. Time free for last minute shopping etc.
